Constantia, NY, Aug. 26 Year?

A relative newcomer, Tom Arnold, was able to broadslide his speedway machine to a win in a wild Handicap feature Saturday night at Empire Speedway, which was marked by a multi bike pile up on the third lap.

National Champion Norm Robinson and John Stasiefski came together in the front straight, with Stasiefski having to have first aid attention. Hank Bassett was also invloved in the mishap, but suffered little damage.

The Scratch main event, went smother with Hank Bassett, one of the four fastest riders in the country, winning. Gene Bonsignore powered his way to a second place finish, and Norm Robinson finishing third.

Two Match races were held, the first pitting Gene Bonsignore against John Stasiefski. Bosignore settled the grudge match from last week by winning the two lap event.

In the final Match race of the evening, Rick Stone and Hank Bassett kept the wildly cheering crowd on its feet for the entire 3 lap see-saw battle. Rick Stone won by half a bike length.
