Friday Night
Mandy "Wild Child" Brodil repeated her
victory at Alexandria Louisiana, with her win in the Quad Final on the Friday
night.
James Birkinshaw won the Bike Final on Friday,
but was plucked out of the USA National Final on Saturday night by
Matt King,
who was disqualified from the rough riding.
The Friday night Quad heats also were rough, starting in heat 14 where
Louis Smith rode over the 'pipe' marking the inside
of the corner, dragging it into the path of the other riders. Total
mayhem followed, until the race was red flagged!
Terry Dan Reed trumped that move, one heat later,
going THROUGH the zamboni / pit gate in turn three, breaking the gate,
and medical personel took a long time getting him back on his feet!

Saturday Night - USA National
Anthony Barlow made it to the Bike Final
with a second and a first in his heats, putting him in gate two. He passed
Australian
Adrian Newman, then all eyes were on the
James Birkinshaw and
Matt King battle for third.
Matt was in fourth, pressed inside of James in turn three, and they were
banging side by side in turn four and again into turn one where James
went down and into the wall. Matt was later disqualified, moving
Canadian Nick Fafard up into the
third place finish, Brendan Fennessy
taking fourth, James awarded fifth.
Macie Stark flipped his number 16 Quad twice, in his second heat, and in the
Last Chance race, putting him out of the Final, but winning the most
noise from the spectators for the night! In the Quad final,
Louis Smith won it, making a perfect
night of racing following his two heat wins. The real show was just behind him
for second between Scott Beauchamp (1998 World Champion) and
John Grant. They crossed the finish line
in a tie, but Grant was awarded the second place.
