Valley-Hi Toyota Scion Spring Classic
April 14, 2007 - Victorville
By: Ryan Evans

Buck Blair won all five of his races, including the Scratch Main, en route to a perfect evening at the Valley-Hi Toyota Scion Spring Classic at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville.

Blair's perfect score in the heats earned him the right of first gate selection for the main and he selected the pole. The Colorado native was first off the line and into turn one. Savvy veteran Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell found traction in turn two and tried to blast under Blair on the backstraight. Blair closed the door on McConnell as they entered turn three and was never seriously threatened after that. Ricky Wells challenged for second by using the outside line, but McConnell fought off every attempt. Blair was first to the checkered flag, McConnell was second, Wells finished third, and Shaun Harmatiuk was fourth.

Four rounds of heat races began with Michael Hull and Justin Boyle colliding in turn two. Hull's evening was over with a bent motorcycle and Boyle's was missed two races while repairing his. Castro easily won the restart. Harmatiuk defeated McConnell in the next heat. Blair held off Wells for his first win of the evening to conclude round one.

McConnell began round two with a win ahead of Travis Henderson. Wells beat Castro for his first win in the next heat. Blair made it two in a row by beating Harmatiuk to finish the second round.

Blair began the third round with his third straight win. Castro won his second race of the evening in race 23. Wells was leading the last race of round three when he found too much grip exiting turn four on the third lap and went over backwards. The race was awarded to Harmatiuk.

Harmatiuk began the final round by defeating McConnell. Blair maintained his perfect score with his fourth victory. Wells won the final heat and booked his place in the main. McConnell held off the persistent challenge of Castro to win the Last Chance and take the final spot in the main.

Mike "Spiderman" Bloom got the best start and led all four laps of the Second Division Main Event. John Marquez was second, Bryan Buffington finished third, and Blake Bowen was fourth.

The battle for the lead in the Third Division Main Event lasted just one lap due to a mechanical problem on Scott York's bike. York's misfortune handed Mike Nutting an easy victory.

Joey Holt scored an impressive victory in the Youth Main Event. Russell Green finished second, Dylan black was third, Braydan Galvin finished fourth, and Brad Pappalardo was fifth.

Erika Lyons was victorious in the Pee Wee Main Event with Bryson Galvin finishing second.
