August 12, 2009 - Industry Speedway

Former National Champion “Flyin” Mike Faria was flawless all evening and took home the Scratch Main Event victory at Industry Speedway.

The main event began inauspiciously as a malfunction to the starting gate required a flag start for the main event. Speedway racers and flag starts are a recipe for larceny and Buck Blair jumped the start and was penalized. The second attempt saw Charlie “The Edge” Venegas get caught and penalized as well. Amid much debate, it was then decided to do an old-fashioned rubber band start for the third attempt. Faria jumped into the lead with Jimmy Fishback and Shawn McConnell in tow. Fishback tried everything he could to catch the leader but his effort didn’t force a mistake. Faria was first to the checkered flag, Fishback finished second, McConnell was third, Venegas finished fourth, and Blair was fifth.

McConnell kicked off the heats by beating Eddie Castro. Faria passed Gino Manzares to win the second heat. Fishback went by Bobby Schwartz to end the first round with a win.

Blair began the second round with a victory over Fishback. Faria made it two straight with a win over McConnell in the next heat. Venegas finished round two by defeating Castro.

Faria opened the final round by beating Venegas to remain perfect. Fishback beat Manzares for his second win. Blair ended the heats with a win over Manzares.

Fishback was victorious in the first semi with Blair following him into the main event. Faria and McConnell finished one-two in the second semi and transferred to the main event. Venegas won the Last Chance to take the final spot in the main.

Kyle Hicks led from start to finish and claimed victory in the Second Division Main Event. Dylan Black was second, Brad Moreau finished third, and Chris Thomas was fourth.

Rocco Scopellite got the best start and never looked back en route to victory in the Youth First Division Main Event. Nicky Reimer finished second, Samuel Ramirez was third, and Maxwell Ruml finished fourth.

Hayley Perrault led all four laps and won the Youth Second Division Main Event. Dillon Ruml finished second, Jacob Wondolowski was third, and Michael Wells finished fourth.

Wondolowski passed Reimer for the lead on the third lap and led the rest of the way in the Pee Wee First Division Main Event. Reimer settled for second, Brian Pintar was third, and Victoria Matthews finished fourth.

Nick Varner led all the way for a dominant win in the Pee Wee Second Division Main Event. Wells was second and Keelan Venegas finished third.

Gerard Jackson and Dave German put together four smooth laps and won the Sidecar Main Event. Sean Driggers and Missy Driggers were second, and Joe Jones and Jimmy Olsen finished third.
