Mission Motorsports Night
June 12, 2010 - Costa Mesa
By:Ryan Evans

Former National Champion "Flyin" Mike Faria took home his third main event victory of the season on Mission Motorsports Night at the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway.

Faria was first off the line from gate one and led the field into turn one. Jimmy Fishback had his chances for victory end when he slid off. Faria was chased by Buck Blair but he was planted on the inside groove which would prove difficult for the Colorado native to get past. Blair remained on Faria's back tire but couldn't force a mistake. Faria was first to the checkered flag while Blair over slid in the final bend and put both tires in the infield which relegated him to last place. McConnell was credited with second, Tyson Burmeister was third, and Jimmy Fishback was fourth.

Steve Russell opened the evening with an impressive victory in heat one. John Marquez handed Faria is only defeat of the evening in heat two. Blair defeated Burmeister in heat three. Fishback beat Robbie Sauer to end the first round.

Fishback started the second round by beating Marquez for his second win. Faria defeated Russell for his first win. Blair made it two in a row by beating "Fast" Eddie Castro. McConnell chased down and passed Burmeister to end round two with a win.

Burmeister began the final round with a win over Fishback. Faria won his second straight heat in event 16. Blair remained the only perfect rider by beating Michael Raines in the penultimate heat. Castro ended the heats by beating Robbie Sauer Faria and Fishback finished one-two in the first semi to transfer to the main event. Burmeister won the second semi with Blair following him into the main. McConnell won the Last Chance to fill the final position in the main event field.

Archie Perez and Rudy Laurer battled side-by-side in the Support Main Event before Perez surged ahead and pulled away for the victory. Perez was a regular in First Division 20 years ago, made a brief comeback a couple years ago, and was racing for the first time in 2010. Laurer finished second, Ryan Tovatt was third, Mike Wiley finished fourth, and Rohn Zellner was fifth.

Norman Graham led the Support B Main Event but fell which handed the lead and the victory to Jake Myers. Mike Salyer was second, Todd Silicato finished third, and Graham was credited with fourth.

Rocco Scopellite led all four laps to capture the Youth First Division Main Event. Max Ruml was second, Gabe Price finished third, and Samuel Ramirez was fourth.
