"Battling" Buck Blair and "Fast" Eddie Castro took home main event victories on Ahern Rentals Night at Inland Motorcycle Speedway in San Bernardino.

Tyson Burmeister was first off the starting line in the Scratch Main Event but Blair was alongside him as they entered turn one. Burmeister stuck to the inside line but Blair's outside gave him a slight advantage entering turn three. The Colorado native found enough traction from the cushion to propel himself ahead of Burmeister on the front straight and he dropped down in front of him as they entered turn one the second time. Burmeister remained close and pressured the leader throughout the race. It was to no avail, however, and Blair held on for his second IMS main event victory in a row. Burmeister had to settle for second, "Mad Dog" Shawn McConnell was third, "Little Animal" Jimmy Fishback finished fourth, and "Fast" Eddie Castro was fifth.

Aaron Fox beat fellow 10 yard riders Brad Pappalardo and Joey Holt off the starting line and was the initial leader of the eight-rider Handicap Main Event. Holt led the chase after the leader but couldn't get by on the first few laps. Holt's persistence paid off at the end of lap five, though, as Fox drifted wide exiting turn four and allowed the fifteen year old to take the lead. Holt led the next two laps, but as he took the white flag he Castro was planted on his back tire. Holt led into the final corner but made a slight mistake and opened the door for the veteran Castro to steal the victory as they raced to the finish line. McConnell finished third, Burmeister was fourth, Neil Facchini finished fifth, and Pappalardo was sixth.

"Flyin" Mike Faria was victorious in the Last of the Mohicans Last Man Out Challenge. "Boogaloo" Bobby Schwartz was second, Michael Raines was third, and Fox was fourth.

"Beach Ball" Steve Brown led the Support Main Event into the first turn but was overtaken by "Racer X" John Pavia. Pavia led the next two laps, but Eloy Medellin went by him as they exited turn four the third time. Medellin never looked back from there and was first to the checkered flag. Rohn Zellner finished second, "Rattlesnake" Steve Bowen was third, Brown finished fourth, Pavia was fifth, and Jake Myers finished sixth.

Nicholas Varner overcame an 80 yard handicap to win the Youth Main Event. Maverick Molloy finished second and Chase Sanborn was credited with third.

Alyssa Smith defeated all of the boys to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Dominic Laney finished second, Sebastian Palmese was third, and Luke Whitcomb finished fourth.

The next event at IMS will be the Speedway Billy Race on Friday, September 3. The event honors Billy Huspek, a long-time speedway fan and brother of Support Division rider Rick Huspek, who passed away last year.

Inland Motorcycle Speedway Pappalardo leads the pack at IMS Aug 27, 2010
Inland Motorcycle Speedway

As the tapes flutter upward, we have Tyson "Son of Wonder Boy" Burmeister in One; "Battling Buck" Blair in Two; Shaun "Mad Dog" McConnell in the Middle; Jimmy "the Little Animal" Fishback in Four; And /the Little Guy from Ojai/, "Fast Eddie" Castro? Up against the wall!

Although Eddie's lever is in /fast forward/, Buck did his famous "/Leap into the next Area Code/" belt-driven-clutch release and out-gunned the gunslingers into turn one at the IMS Corral.
