Again Billy Janniro was unstoppable at Fast Fridays in Auburn Friday night as he picked up his third night of double main event wins at the Gold Country Fairgrounds track. Janniro dominated both the scratch and handicap programs, winning every race he was in including both Division I main events. So far this season Janniro has lost just one scratch main event on May 30 to Charlie Venegas. With the second round of the AMA US National Speedway Championship next Saturday in southern California and, "The Kid" turning in some of the best rides of his career, the current national champ seems poised to add a fifth national championship to his extensive racing resume. Janniro leads the national championship points standings after round one with a perfect score of 21 points, followed by Charlie Venegas with 15.

Janniro came out of lane three in the scratch main event and faced some pretty stiff competition in the final race to be crowned the fastest man of the evening. Auburn's Bart Bast chased Janniro on the inside of the track as Janniro worked the deeper dirt just outside of the inside lane. Venegas gave chase behind Bast but was not a threat on this night. Janniro increased his lead over Bast to at least 10 yards and cruised to victory. Bast followed him, Venegas was third and Bryce Starks was fourth. "When there's dirt on the track and I feel going out on it, which is every week, it's going to be hard for these guys to beat me," Janniro said. "This is probably the best track they've had all season long, but as the night goes on Bart (Bast) is always faster than me on a slick track, and at the end of the night I always have to block him," he said.

The handicap main event was loaded with racing talent with most riders lined up on the 40 and 50 yard line and Janniro starting way back on the 70 yard line. Janniro faced Bast, Venegas, Starks, Tommy Hedden, and Bob Hicks. Grabbing power from his bike that seemed impossible, Janniro passed Bast and Hedden who were battling on the inside, just a little higher on the track. Starks threatened outside also but could not get through the traffic and was stymied several times on hard charging drives to take Janniro. It was a great race that had the crowd on their feet, as Janniro crossed the finish line first riding a wheelie. Hedden rode a strong race finishing second and Bast was third.

Carmichael's Kyle Marsalla picked up his second main event victory of the season in Division II. In an exciting race Marsalla held off Shane Loessberg who finished second. Loessberg has returned to racing speedway after taking a break in 2007 and is getting back into the groove two strong in the money finishes in Division II so far this season. Michael Achilles finished third. Lawrence McNutt topped Division III's main event for the second time this season. McNutt a strong competitor in Division III and the Run What U Brung division held off Will "The Farmer" McCloskey who finished second and speedway patriarch Harlan Bast who finished third.

Luke Becker cruised to a first place finish in the Youth 250cc main event. Becker, one of the nation's best youth riders, turned in a flawless night's performance. Chase Guerrero was second and Blake Borello was third. Dylan Wagner topped the Youth 150cc main event and Landon Norton was second. In the Run What U Brung main event, newcomer John Fodrini picked up his third main event win in a row and fourth main event win this season. Currently Fodrini is dominating the Run What U Brung program. "I rode last year for about half the year on a little 230cc bike and I finally got this nice flat track 450cc and it's a little easier now," Fodrini said.
