In the second night of racing at L.M.S., the track developed a slightly
dusty, smooth, blue groove early on.
In the scratch main event, up and coming second division riders Joel Brown and Francis Ganance battled in close formation for four laps. It was evident that neither rider was use to riding so close to another competitor, as it took them one lap to gain confidence in each other and themselves before settling into a remaining three lap battle that would go all the way to the line. On lap three, Ganance moved under Brown going into turn one: Brown answered the call with a slight "pinch move" that was enough to keep Ganance at bay! On the final drive to the checkered flag off turn four, the two riders were separated by approximately two bike lengths: the drag race that ensued saw "Craig Bracken Racing's" Joel Brown edge Ganance out for the win.
Herschel Benkert finished a distant third after moving up with a nice pass over Al Lowe on lap three.
Elated with his first ever main event win, Brown was heard to offer this explanation for his new found success: Patrick Reynolds was out of action this week with an ear infection that effected his equilibrium. He left his "Super Trick Pit Chair" up here and I got to use it tonight. It was funny - I'd sit down to rest between heats and I'd be thinking about what I was doing wrong - the answers would just come to me as if they were radiating out of the "Passer Man's" chair. I owe tonight's win to his spirit!
