Sonny Nutter
California State Speedway Champion 1968
Sonny Nutter

"Sonny is a legend in Southern California. He was California State Speedway Champion in 1968 and is extremely popular in the speedway fraternity here. He was captain of a US team that raced against the top Europeans in Israel (!) back in those days and he tells stories of how the Europeans went to the gym after each race, when the Americans headed for the nearest bar. Despite having a team that included Bruce Penhall, the Europeans including Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger, (don't know how they got mistaken for Europeans) beat them. Sonny is a regular attendee at the Harp and Crown's Triumph Wednesday night get together." - Gary Roberts - Nov. '96
