Subject: Phil Crump to ride again
Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2000 17:26:22 +1000

According to Australian "Speedway World", Phil Crump and John Titman are
set to take to the track again at Mike Hatcher Park on Queensland's Gold Coast.
They will join Ivan Mauger, who will also ride the day after the Australian Veteran
Speedway Riders Association annual Gold Coast dinner, which is being held at
the nearby Parklands Showground on Saturday, 10th June.
 Crump will ride his o r i g i n a l Street 4 valve Jawa(1975), while Titman will climb
aboard the 1978 Weslake which he used in the Wembley world final that same year.
Mauger will have five of his bikes on display at the dinner, including his gold
plated speedway machine which carried him to the 1970 world championship.
Mauger will carry the Olympic Torch through the streets of Surfers Paradise
on 12th June, so it promises to be a memorable three days for the former six times
world champ. Also on display at the dinner will be Jason Crump's Honda on which he
won the Australian Junior Championship.

For further details on tickets to the dinner write to stvmagro@tig.com.au

Subject: Hull 48 - Newcastle 42
Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2000 09:20:16 +0100

Hull

Paul Thorp 4 (4)
Rene Aas 7+1 (4)
Lee Dicken 10 (5)
Mike Smith 2+1 (4)
Garry Stead 12+1 (5)
Paul Smith 13 (5)
Wesley Waite 0 (3)

Newcastle
Paul Pickering 10 (5)
Will Beveridge 5+1 (4)
Stuart Swales 5+1 (4)
Grant Macdonald 4 (4)
Jesper Olsen 12 (5)
Jamie Smith 3+2 (4)
Darren Pearson 3+1 (4)

A pretty close meeting, which went down to a last heat decider. Hull did
well for a four man team, with Thorp, Mike Smith and Wesley Waite not
looking upto much, though Thorps' 4 did include one heat win. The other four
were good, in particular Dicken, Stead and Paul Smith. At the moment Paul
Smith is riding brilliantly, though he managed never to come up against
Olsen or Pickering last night. He was still the fourth fastest man on the
track behind Pickering, Dicken and Olsen.

For Newcastle they were all pretty steady, Pickering was an able guest, and
the match should have been closer but he retired while leading heat 15.
Olsen was as quick as always and was invlolved in the best racing, passing
Aas in heat 6 and climbing all over the back of Dicken in heat 9, but Lee
managed to keep him behind. Newcastles problem is that they only really have
two heat leaders, Hulls two 5-1's came against Swales and Macdonald.

Dave...whilst we Aussies toast Kings Lynn's decisive victory, we don't
applaud your colourful report writing for this digest in particular
referring to another great British team Belle Vue as "crap"......particular
when another favourite Aussie Jason Lyons is a member as well of this team.
I am sure this Mildura lad would not take kindly to your anal retentive
description of his team.........and i am sure Rob does not sweat you
either........

What a great night for Manchester all round :-)

This time last year, everyone said the defeat at Hull was deliberate - but
this year we know that the Aces are simply sh!te.

Perrin & Hall - you couldn't get a better double act. And they wonder why
the greyhounds are more popular at Quirky Lane.

Time to swap your blind faith for a step into the real world Mr Beckingham.

Steve,

Having spoken to Tomas during the recent Czech tour he told me
that he would be riding in the Czech league this year. In fact a
recent mail posted by a gentleman who I think was called Tony
Skach showed Tomas to be in the Brezlupy (forgive the spelling)
team. When the results were published by the same person there
was no mention of Tomas.

Can you tell me why this is and if in fact he did start the meeting or
did Tony Skach make an error?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Gary Robinson

Tony,
as I have not received any entry form yet from CMF for the Czech rider
allocated to our WC Qual. Round on 30.4, could you please check if you can
have any information about it?.
Regards.
