Having read result of Czech national WC qualifier a simple question came
into my mind. Where is Tom Topinka? Why did not take part on this meeting?

IPSWICH FIGHT BACK TO FORCE A DRAW

A Magnificent ride by Tomasz Gollob in the final race of the afternoon gave
Ipswich a point in this Local Derby against near neighbours King's Lynn.

After a quick change in the weather racing was made difficult and with a
very slick surface overtaking was at a premium.

The Witches in customary style started slowly with Louis out-pacing Crump in
the first race of the day and reserves race heat 2, again saw a 5-1
reverse to the opposition with Clouting looking down on power. More grief on
the way with Crump and Master taking a 4-2 from Svab and Ferjan in heat 5
with Adams and McGowan doing likewise in the following heat.

Once again Louis and Gollob were called upon to redress the balance in heat
seven and they duly obliged with a fine 5-1 heat win to bring the home team
to within 4 points of the visitors.

Heat 9 saw another 4-2 to Lynn with Adams and McGowan out-pacing Svab and
Ferjan to give them a 6 point lead once more. In heat ten Ipswich Team
Manager Mike Smillie brought in Gollob as a tactical substitute for Hare and
although Louis won the race Gollob could make no impression on the team
riding of Boyce and Parker.

Going into heat 13 with the scores at 33 -39 the Ipswich pairing of Louis
and Gollob managed a 5-1 after a magnificent pass on the inside by the
Ipswich skipper when he overtook the very strong Adams/Crump partnership.

A drawn heat followed which mean't that the Witches went into the final
heat, two points down and once again relying on the Gollob / Louis magic.
It was Adams from the gate followed by Gollob and Louis and for two laps
the World number two chased Adams and only masterly skill took the Pole to
the front and with Louis doing well to keep out Crump the spoils were
shared.

Once again it was the Ipswich tail that let them down - Hare, Bunyan and
Clouting managed only five points between them whereas the Lynn opposite
numbers Masters, McGowam and Madsen scored 15 . Although in fairness it must
be said that Bunyan did score some important points particularly in the
penultimate race.

Louis 3 2 3 3 2+ 1 14+1

Bunyan 1 1+ 1+ 3+2
