Warm and sunny, big crowd, terrific racing - what more could anyone
ask?
Clouting made a dream return to Poole with a convincing win in ht.2,
but Eagles took the lead in the next after Nicholls fell (forced wide
by Norris, but they didn't appear to touch). In the rerun, Dugard
shielded Norris from the ever-pressing Lindqvist, until Dugard lifted,
allowing the Swede through to second.
After heat6 it was all square, but then Loram and Dugard were wheel to
wheel for half a lap before Norman took the lead, then locked up,
allowing Loram the victory. At the back, Norris caught Clouting on the
last lap, flicked his back wheel at him, and passed.
Barker passed Gunnestad in ht.8 to join the fast starting Kokko for a
5-1 and an Eagles 4-point lead. Poole looked set for a 4-2 in heat 9,
until Nicholls and Lindqvist both suddenly lifted on the fourth bend at
the same time, allowing Eagles to score the 4-2. In the tenth, Poole
were on a 5-1, until Gunnestad ef'd.
6 pts down , Havelock was a tac sub in ht.11, but it was Loram who went
from 3rd to 1st inside a lap. Highlight of heat 12 was a truly classic
outside drive by Dugard around Nicholls on the 3rd/4th bend.
Pirates were on a 5-1 in the thirteenth, until Screeny passed Havvy.
Clouting was on fire to win the next, out to prove a point I think,
after Lindqvist lifted(again).
There was a tight first bend in the nominated, which saw Loram , and
then Screen, charge into the fence. A bad crash, Loram looked shaken,
and maybe has an arm injury, and was taken to hospital by Ambulance.
England's number one, England's greatest racer, and Poole's top rider -
in hospital, 6 days before the first Grand Prix. I'm sure we all wish
him a speedy return, and that the crash was not as bad as it looked.

Southampton Saints staged a 6-heat 8-rider individual event for the
Bert Croucher Memorial Trophy. Scorers were :
Chris Shramm 9(max), Chris Hunt 6, David Osborne 5, Terry Day 5, Nathan
Irwin 4, Gareth Silk 3, Tom Brown 2, Daniel Giffard 2.

An excellent day at Poole. Meetings like this can only do the sport a
world of good.

Thanks to Ray for posting the result, but what do these riders qualify for?
As far as I know, only 5 Danish riders qualify for the Scandinavian Final,
with the reserve going into a runoff prior to the meeting for an additional
place.
