Speedway Long Track National Championship Racers are registered from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio in pursuit of the #1 Plate representing the National Championship. The motorcycles used for speedway are not remotely like any machine you will ever see on the roads. They have acceleration equal to a Formula One racing car, but rather surprisingly have NO BRAKES, rear suspension or gears. For the technically minded, the engines are 500cc single cylinder four valve, four strokes with air cooling. Methanol is used instead of gasoline to enable them to run at very high compression ratios.

2017 Colorado - IMI Flat Track and Speedway

Good Morning Racers - I am hoping this post will help everyone understand the pit passes, since it seemed to get a lot of talk yesterday.
Here is how the pit passes work =

1 Race Entry = Racer in the pits for FREE + 1 additional pass
2 Race Entries = Racer(s) in the pits for FREE + 2 additional passes
3 Race Entries = Racer(s) in the pits for FREE + 3 additional passes
4 Race Entries = Racer(s) in the pits for FREE + 4 additional pit passes
5 Race Entries = Racer(s) in the pits for FREE + 5 addtional pit passes
6 Race Entries + Racer(s) in the oits for FREE + 6 additional pit passes

For Example = If I am personally racing 2 classes (entries), I get in the pits for FREE + I get 2 friends or family members in for FREE :-)

Also, ALL children 10 and under are FREE at the gate and in the pit area!

If a regular spectator pays the gate fee to get into IMI (is not a friend or family member) and does not have a pit pass from a PAID racer, he/she MUST purchase a $10.00 pit pass in order to get access into the racing pits.

Additionally, NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS – Racers need to understand this is a no alcohol or drug event and agree to neither have in their possession nor consume any drugs or alcoholic beverage while racing. I further understand that if I am caught racing under the influence, I will be disqualified from racing and will forfiet all points earned.

Lastly, I just recieved an email from Brad Linkus @ 10:40 AM today about the AMA information that has been talked about and is now confirmed as the following - From @ Brad Linkus I want you to let people know IMI is paying for half of the AMA membership fee so it will only cost them $25 for a single or $50 for a family 1 year membership. So YES, IMI is using AMA insurance, we are NOTfollowing AMA classes!!!

I hope this helps racers.......

2017 Schedule Updates
We may have jumped the start when we sent out last e-mail three weeks ago as there are been a few changes to the schedule. The first change is that we will not be doing our fair race on June 17th, however, we will be doing our popular Gonzocross event on the infield on Friday, June 16th. People often ask what Gonzocross is, and we always tell them that it is similar to Endurocross, but not nearly as serious. The next change is to our 8/5 AMA Vintage National Night. We are going to run all of our regular classes at the 8/5 event and move our US vs. Canada Speedway Shootout to 8/26 which is also round two of the Steel Shoe Nationals which will be televised on MavTv, and will feature a purse in excess of $40,000. The final change is that the Vet 30+ night has been moved up one week to 8/19.
VIP Passes & Reserved Parking.

We have 14 points paying events on our 2017 schedule and two nights of AMA Vintage National/Speedway. We are offering a VIP season pit pass for $110 which is a $140 value.

Once again, we will be offering reserved pit parking for the 2017 season. Vans and trucks with small trailers will be parked with their front bumpers facing the fence that runs between the pit entrance and the hill (rear of vehicle would be facing turn 3 and 4 wall. Longer vehicles would park on the other side of the fence facing the vans and trucks with small trailers. Cost is $100 for the season and includes a sign with your name and number in your choice of red, green, black or blue identifying your reserved spot. Please contact us to reserve your spot today.

Joe Kopp's Secret of Speed
The Secrets of Speed riding school presented by Smokin' Joe will be holing their school at Mid America Speedway on Tuesday, June 27th.

More information will be coming out, but further information contact Joe by e-mail or phone as soon as possible to reserve your spot as these limited spots will fill up fast. More information can be found at www.TheSecretsOfSpeed.com .

Mid-America Speedway in Indianapolis Celebrating 10-Year
Anniversary with Opening of 2017 Season April 29

Press release for immediate release

Indianapolis, IN. – April 10, 2017 – Mid-America Speedway in Indianapolis is set to open their new season Saturday, April 29 (rain date May 6) in what will be the track's 10th Anniversary at the Marion County Fairgrounds on Indy's southeast side. “We are very proud of our ten years in serving the flat track and racing community here in Indianapolis, and the track has seen many racers that started as amateurs here that eventually went on to race in the pro ranks Nationwide,” stated track president and promoter Jim Terchila. “We are also very fortunate to have a quality relationship with the fair board at the fairgrounds that has held strong over the course of our ten year history.”

This season's schedule in many ways is reflective of previous events over the course of the last ten seasons, and will include among others the GonzoCross race on Marion County Fair opening night, June 16, a special track day class being held by 2000 AMA Grand National Champion Joe Kopp's Secrets of Speed on June 27, the return of theAMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship series on August 4-5 (which on 8/5 will see round 2 of the USA vs. Canada Speedway Shootout) and the track's 9th-annual Halloween race on October 28. The track will also see regular Mid-America Points Night Races on June 10, July 29, August 12 & 19 and September 9.

“We are also very fortunate to have Holland Regional Trucking return as our primary track sponsor this year through June 30 (at least) and this year we will also have Chomp'z Truck food service at all of our events (except the fair race) serving up their non-typical meals for all to enjoy at their very reasonable prices, and we've added Rock Auto auto parts as one of our main associate sponsors at the track for the upcoming season,” continued Terchila. “Our race ticket prices are again remaining constant, with adult tickets at $10/each with children 5-9 $5/each (pit pass prices also being the same amount) and again we are also offering preferred reserved pit parking spaces to our regular riders/teams for $100 for the season which will include personal signage for each spot. And we will also offer VIP season-long pit passes for $110/each (a $140 value). And for the third year in-a-row we will again be having our year-end banquet at the Sunshine Bowling Center in Clermont, IN. on November 11.

“We're really looking forward to our 10th-anniversary season at Mid-America,” added Terchila, “and seeing many of our regular returning racers again as well as those in the flat track community who wish to take the plunge into racing on a regular basis. And we are also working with the Octane Sports Management group in trying to work in a Steel Shoe Nationals race at the track, although at this time we are still in the formulation stage. If/when this possibly happens we will make a special announcement concerning that possibility.”

2017 Indiana - Mid America

2017 Mid-America Speedway 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

It seems like just yesterday that we opened Mid-America Speedway. That first race in 2008 was not our best race, but we learned a lot at that race, and at every race that we have had since. After 100 plus races, we are proud of the facility, the quality of the track and how smoothly the program runs. We are also proud of the riders that spent a large part of their amateur careers at Mid-America and have since moved on to the pro ranks but still call Mid-America Speedway home.

The 2017 Flat track season at Mid-America Speedway will be kicking off four weeks from today on April 29th. With the unpredictable weather in Indiana, the rain date will be the following Saturday on May 6th. Riders meeting will be at 4:30, and practice will be at 5:00. We have done some work on the track over the winter, and will be working more over the next three weeks to ensure that it will be in top shape on race day.

Please join us as we celebrate our ten year anniversary in 2017!

We have 14 points paying events, our 2017 schedule and two nights of AMA Vintage National/Speedway. We are offering a VIP season pit pass for $110 which is a $140 value.

2017 Schedule
The season is scheduled to kick off on April 29th with our annual spring opener. (May 6th is rain date) We then take a little over a month off before our next event which we consider our true season opener on June 3rd. There will be a regular points race on June 10th, and then on June 17th is our 11th Annual Fair Race. Had we not promoted this event in 2007 flat track would not exist at the Marion County Fairgrounds. After the fair, we take almost a month off and return on July 15th where the winner of the 50+/Super Senior class will take home a $100 bonus. July 29th is a regular points night, and then we have a double header on Friday, August 4th and Saturday the 5th which is rounds 8 and 9 of the AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Series. Saturday, August 5th is also round 2 of the USA vs. Canada Speedway Series. (Round one will be in Welland, ON July 8th.) Next on the schedule is our August 12th and August 19th events which are regular points nights. The action continues at our Vet 30+ Night on August 26th. September 30th pays $500 to the winner of the 250 money class. The Vintage Light riders are the featured class on October 14th, where the winner receives $100 Our 9th annual Halloween race will be on October 28th with $500 going to the winner of the Open Class.
