Mid America Speedway

Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway:
Unfortunately, the rumors are true that we have had to shut Mid-America. The biggest reason, was that the revenue was simply not there to keep it going, and I could not justify putting more money into the program. We had a great 12 year run, met a lot of great people and have a ton of great memories. (Jim Terchila, October 22, 2019.)

Mid-America News Release July 14, 2019

Due to the heat, and lack of rain, the Mid-America crew had their work cut out for them prepping the track. We did the final grade and watered on Tuesday, and then continued watering most of the day on Thursday and Friday. The crew returned at 8:30 Saturday morning to start watering. With temps in the 90's the crew took the required breaks during practice to ensure that the track was in great shape for the heats and main events and all of the rider feedback was extremely positive.

Last night also proved that our Focus on the Future series is paying off as 30% of the entries were in youth classes. Don't forget that Mid-America also waives a riders first class entry fee in the 50cc and 65cc classes. (more details below)
With $500 up for grabs in the 65cc class, all of the riders also had their work cut out for them. Sponsored by Tear It Up Racing, and Cycle Trucking the class paid $500 to the winning bike owner. It was great to see both groups step up and put up some money in order to put some money back into the bike owners pockets to keep them coming back to the track. We would like to congratulate Coy "The Crusher" Cummins for winning the 65cc bike class on 7/13. It looks like Coy's father Matt Cummins found a great setup as Coy lived up to his nickname and crushed the competition. Be sure to follow Coy Cummins Racing on Facebook to keep up with his results.
Our next event is this Saturday on July 20th, where Cycle Trucking and Tear it Up Racing are putting up $400 to the winning bike owner in the 50cc Chain Class, and $150 to the winning bike owner in the 50cc Shaft Class. Please continue reading below for more information on this program.

August 2nd and 3rd is our AMA Vintage National Dirt Track National weekend. Friday, August 2nd is vintage only, and Saturday, August 3rd in vintage and all of the Mid-America Classes. Just like we did in 2018, we will be hosting a complimentary cookout immediately following the Friday night portion of the weekend.

August 24th is our Quad Shootout with $1000 going to the winner of the Open Quad Class, and once again Tear It up racing is putting up $300 to win the Youth Quad Class. We round out the month of August on the 31st, with a $100 bonus going to the winner of Vet 30+.

September starts off a little different for Mid-America in that we are hosting a triple-header of the Midwest Extreme Dirt Track National Series. Friday, September 6th will see action on the oval, and then on Saturday the 7th, and Sunday the 8th the quads will take to the TT track. Next on the schedule is Vintage Heavy Night on September 21st with $100 (per cylinder) going to the winner of the Vintage Heavy Class. Our final event of the month will see the winner of the 250 Money class taking home $500 for their efforts on the 28th.

October is another unique month in that the Mid-America crew is promoting two nights of racing at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, IN on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday the 13th. Both nights will feature the regular Mid-America classes and will also be the final two rounds of the 2019 AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Series. October 19th is Vintage Light Night, with a $100 bonus being awarded to the winner of the Vintage Light Class. The season ends the following week on October 26th with our 11th annual Halloween race. The winner of the Open Bike class will receive $500 for their efforts.

Directions to Mid-America
I-Phone and Android users can search for Mid-America Speedway on Google Maps. Due to the current construction in and around Indianapolis, this is the best way to get to the track. If you don't have an I-Phone or Android device, Mid-America Speedway is located at the southeast corner of Indianapolis at the Marion County Fairgrounds. From 465, take exit 49 and go to the first light and turn left, continue approximately 3/4 of a mile, and go over the overpass. Bear to the left at the base of the overpass, go past the main entrance to the stop sign, and turn left on Fisher road. Go approximately 1/4 mile and enter through gate 5.

Mid-America Speedway in Indy Hosting Next 2 Race Weekends
With Emphasis on the Kids & Future of the Sport of Flat Track
July 13 & 20 events to Highlight 50-65cc Classes & Youngsters of the Sport

Indianapolis, IN. – July 2, 2019 – Mid-America Speedway wants to try to work on putting more emphasis back into the youth classes, and with the upcoming two rounds at the Marion County Fairgrounds on the southeast side of Indianapolis the pay-outs for each respective classes on those two weekends will help them to do so.

“We feel as if we have overlooked the smaller youth classes the last few years and as a result we've noticed smaller turn-outs in the 50-65cc classes we host here and we want to try and turn that around for not only the youngsters, but also for the future of the sport of flat track racing,” stated track promoter & president Jim Terchila. “Our July 13th event will have a $500 payout to the winning bike owner in the 65cc Class while the July 20th event will have a $400 payout to the winning bike owner in the 50cc Chain Class and $150 for the 50cc Shaft Class."

“Along with our regular track sponsors including Lightshoe (the official steel shoe of Mid-America Speedway), BuyRight Auto, Falcone Powersports, Horsepower Inc., and Pink Pots, Tear It Up Racing, Cycle Trucking and we here at Mid-America Speedway are banding together for a special payout in the two upcoming events here,” continued Terchila. “Along with those payouts to the bike owners, we will also be offering one free entry fee to those entering the 50cc & 65cc classes both of those weekends. We feel like this will help us and the youngsters to try and turn it around in order to build up for their futures and the future of the sport overall. We're the only track around that puts up this kind of money for the kids so we feel as if it's a very unique and worthwhile investment in not only the kid's future but the future of the sport as a whole."

“As per our usual running times, rider briefings will take place at 4:00 PM EDT with first practice at 4:30 and first heat races scheduled for 7:00 PM. Grandstand tickets are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for ages 5-9 and 4 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $15.00 for adults, $5.00 for ages 5-9, and 4 and under are free. We look forward to seeing everyone and hope that you can help spread the word so we can get back to 'making it about the kids' again,” concluded Terchila.

As the saying goes, the third time is a charm, and last nights race proved that once again. After getting rained out on April 27th, and May 4th, we finally got an event in, and ironically all of the rain that we received earlier in the week contributed to a great track with plenty of grip. We often get complimented on how quick our program runs, and last nights program was no exception with the mains and heats being completed in three hours, with a total of 25 heats, 18 mains, and 120 entries. The big winner of the night was Chase Anderson from Caseyville, IL who took home $275 in the 80-200 class.

We also need to remind people that the Marion County Fairgrounds does not allow dogs on the property. (There are signs stating this at the entrance). Secondly, our insurance carrier does not cover a dog incident should one occur. Effective immediately, there is going to be a zero tolerance policy on this. We know that many of you are attached to your dogs, but, the liability from a dog bite is not worth the risk.

The next race on the schedule is this Saturday June 8th, with a $100 bonus going to the winner of the Senior 50+ Class.

Racing resumes on 7/13 with $500 going to the winning bike owner of the 65cc Class. The purse money is being put up by Tear It Up Racing, Cycle Trucking, and Mid-America Speedway. While we are talking about Cycle Trucking, and Tear It Up Racing, they are also putting up money the following week on 7/20 where it will pay $400 to the winning bike owner in the 50cc Chain Class, and $150 to the winning bike owner in the 50cc Shaft Class.

2019 Central US Speedway Racing Schedules:

Colorado, Lawrenceburg, Lynchburg and Mid America are now posted.

There will NOT be a Long Track Speedway Championship at Wauseon, Ohio this year according to Taaron Sattler, Events Coordinator, due to low turnout last year in 2018.

Mid America Speedway

Putting a race schedule together at Mid America Speedway is never easy, and it seems to have gotten more complicated over the past few seasons with the rise in popularity of Flat track, Speedway and Quad racing over the past few years. With that said, lets talk more about the upcoming 2019 season.

As always, we are going to kick of the season on the last Saturday in April with our Super Sr. 60+ Night on April 27th. The winner of the class will receive a $100 bonus, and the oldest rider starting the main event will receive $50. If this event is rained off, we have Saturday May 4th as the rain date. We will race on either April 27th, or May 4th, but not both.

After an approximate one month break, the season takes off in full swing with $250 going to the winning bike owner in the youth 80-200 class on June 1st, and we finish up the month of June on the 8th with a $100 bonus going to the winner of the Senior 50+ Class.

August 2nd and 3rd is our AMA Vintage National Dirt Track National weekend. Friday, August 2nd is vintage only, and Saturday, August 3rd in vintage and all of the Mid-America Classes.

October 19th is Vintage Light Night, with a $100 bonus being awarded to the winner of the Vintage Light Class. The season ends the following week on October 26th with our 11th annual Halloween race. The winner of the Open Bike class will receive $500 for their efforts.

Upcoming Ice Races
The Extreme International Ice Racing Series will be in Danville, IL next Friday, February 22nd. The series runs several classes from youth and adult flat track, quad and Speedway. If you would like more information, please call us at 317.871.4392 and we can put you in touch with the promoter.
