Dale M. Wakefield Sr.

January 15, 1962 - January 16, 2011

Dale M. Wakefield Sr., 49, of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Warren Township New Jersey passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 in Lehighton. Born in Plainfield, son of Isabelle (Leeds) Wakefield of Griffin, Georgia and the late Norman Wakefield. Loving husband of Theresa (Hall) Wakefield; father of Wendy and Dale Jr. both of Albrightsville; brother of Pauline Bitrick & husband James of Griffin, Georgia. and Buddy Wakefield of Mt. Bethel, Pennsylvania.

I am regretfully posting that I got a call this morning saying that former first division speedway rider, Dale Wakefield, has passed away. He apparently had a heart attack yesterday after cutting wood at his home in PA. Dale was a good rider who rode for many years and was known as the Jersey Jolt. Norm Robinson headed up a fundraiser for Dale a couple years ago at our track after a house fire had damaged much of the Wakefield's home. Dale had been in contact with me recently about having his son, who is a great off road rider, try speedway this season. We are so very sorry to hear of this news and our thoughts go out to Dale's family.
