Fast Fridays, Auburn, California USA - May 12, 2006
By Gary Roberts

Fast Fridays second week got underway on a very wet track. Watching Mike Faria two-wheeling into a corner is not a good sign! But the sidecar competitors quickly dusted the track off, producing an excellent racing surface for the rest of the night. One suggestion: Why couldn’t the sidecar race be held first?

Warm, but not hot, weather brought out a good crowd.

National Champion Mike FariaUnofficial results:

Scratch Main Event
1. Mike Faria
2. Bart Bast
3. Bryan Yarrow
4. Nate Perkins
Mike Faria got the gate and immediately established a safe distance from the Bart Bast Nate Perkins battle for second place. On the second lap contact was made and Perkins got both wheel into the infield, bringing out the red flag. Without question, Perkins removed himself from the 3 man re-run. Again, Faria got the gate and was first into the corner, followed by Bast. That was the finishing order.

3. Chad Felicio (40)
4. Bart Bast (40)
5. Mike Faria (40)
6. Ivan Sevart(0)
Danny Easley rode a sensible race to win the Handicap Main Event. He quickly caught Ivan Sevart, but there was no path past with Ivan clinging to the pole. Then Nate Perkins caught Danny and tried to move him off the pole. Danny took the bold move to an outside line past Ivan. This enabled him to establish a safe distance before the freight train got past Ivan.

Matt Proto’s division 3 win last week was rewarded by a promotion to division 2. He chose to start at the 30 yard line, to monitor his performance but easily worked his way through the field. I foresee him becoming a division 1 rider very quickly.
