California Speedway
August 29, 2007 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas extended his lead in the season point standings with his ninth main event victory of the season at Industry Speedway.

Venegas launched to the front off the starting line, but the race was aborted when Ryan Fisher got off hard in turn two. Fisher walked away, but was excluded from the restart. Venegas jumped to the lead on the restart and was never seriously challenged en route to victory. Jimmy Fishback had second place in hand, but drifted wide in the final corner and allowed Ricky Wells to sneak by for the win.

Wells, who recently won the Under 21 National Championship, began the heats with a solid win over Shawn McConnell. Fishback defeated Dale Facchini for his first win. Buck Blair beat Bobby Schwartz in the next heat. Venegas beat Fisher to end round one.

Round two started with Blair using the outside to pass and defeat Venegas. McConnell scored his first win over Brad Sauer. Fisher beat Schwartz for his first victory. Wells beat Robbie Sauer to conclude the second round.

Fisher won his second straight race to start the final round. Wells remained perfect after defeating Schwartz. McConnell put on a 22" rear tire and gave Blair a taste of his own medicine with an outside pass and victory. Venegas beat Travis Henderson in the final heat. Fishback and Robbie Sauer finished one-two in a runoff to take the final spots in the semis.

Fisher handily won the first semi, but Fishback was under fire from Blair for second the entire distance. Blair cut back under Fishback in the final corner but was defeated by inches. In the second semi Venegas handed Wells his first defeat, but the sixteen year old joined him in the main event. Schwartz held off Blair to win the Consolation.

Vince Giamformaggio cruised to his third Second Division Main Event victory of the season. Kim Stevens finished second, Eloy Medellin was third, and Rudy Laurer finished fourth.

Toni Hicks led the Third Division Main Event before Aimiris Santana took over on the second lap. Danny Baker used the outside to gain ground on the leader and made a desperate attempt on the final corner. Santana and Baker drag raced to the checkered flag with Baker getting the narrow victory. Hicks finished third, Lance Remington was fourth, Joe Dillard finished fifth, and Hugh Randolph was sixth.

Newly crowned Youth National Champion Jason Ramirez scored a dominant win in the Youth First Division Main Event. Gino Manzares finished second, Austin Novratil was third, and Russell Green finished fourth.

Richard Crocker stalked, then passed Braydan Galvin on the final lap to win the Youth Second Division Main. Galvin settled for second and Rocco Scopellite was third.

Eloy Medellin III scored his first main event victory in the Youth Third Division Main with Elijah Harrison-Hicks coming in second and Samuel Ramirez finishing third.

Nathan Remington was victorious in the Pee Wee Main Event. Lexi Santana was second and Christian Locatelli finished third.

Dale Facchini and Matt Davis passed Joe Jones and Jimmy Olsen in the final corner to steal the Sidecar Main Event victory. Scott and Shawn Driggers were third, Brian Motis and Loren Thurston finished fourth, and Tommy Thornton and Pat Grames were fifth.
