Former National Champion Billy “The Kid” Janniro went undefeated en route to winning the 2010 Colorado River Classic at the Mojave Crossing Event Center in Fort Mojave, Arizona.

Janniro’s perfect score entitled him to first choice of gates and he wisely selected gate one. Before the race started, “Flyin” Mike Faria got into the tapes. Faria was not penalized, however, because the racers had not been officially staged by the Starter. The second attempt saw Janniro blast into turn one ahead of Gary Hicks and Faria. Faria was on the outside and was overtaken by Chris Kerr and Jason Ramirez. Hicks tried to chase down Janniro, but the former Coventry Bee was mistake-free the rest of the way. Janniro was first to the checkered flag, Hicks finished second, Kerr was third, Ramirez finished fourth, and Faria was fifth.

The heats began with Former Youth National Champion Brad Pappalardo trapping the field in turn one but went straight in turn two allowing the field to go by. Janniro stalked Ramirez for two laps before taking the lead and the win. Buck Blair defeated Tyson Burmeister and Kerr in the second heat. Faria beat Gino Manzares in the third heat. Hicks ended round one by defeating Eddie Castro.

Hicks started round two by getting his second straight win ahead of Tim Gomez. Janniro trapped the field and was leading when the race was red-flagged after two laps and was awarded the victory. Kerr beat Castro in the next heat for his first win. Ramirez scored a hard-earned win ahead of Faria in race 13. Kenny Ingalls passed Burmeister for the lead and the win to complete the second round.

Ramirez opened the final round by beating Josh Abbott for his second consecutive win. Janniro remained perfect with a runaway win in event 21. Kerr beat Manzares for his second straight win. Faria trapped from gate five and held off Ingalls for his second win. Blair closed out the heats with his second victory by keeping Hicks at bay.

Blair touched the tapes in the first semi and was penalized. Janniro scored an easy victory with Ramirez following him into the main. Castro went to the Last Chance along with Blair who got past Burmeister. Hicks and Faria finished one-two in the second semi and both transferred to the main with Kerr and Ingalls going to the Last Chance.

Blair led the Last Chance for a lap before Kerr muscled his way by to take the lead, the win, and the final spot in the main event.
Tim Gomez defeated Neil Facchini in the final challenge to win the five-rider Last of the Mohicans Last Man out Challenge.

The Second Division Main Event required three starts, but Tyson Talkington wasn’t fazed as he followed victories in both his heats by scoring a dominant victory in the main. Dylan Black, who was also undefeated in his heats, finished second, Michael Raines was third, and Rick Fehrman finished fourth.

John “Racer X” Pavia led all four laps and collected the Third Division Main Event. Michael Moore finished second, Mike Wiley was third, Tony DeAlmeida finished fourth, and Gene Stone was fifth.

Rocco Scopellite carefully negotiated the track to claim victory in the Youth First Division Main Event ahead of Maxwell Ruml and Gabe Price.

Willie Wondolowski led the Youth Second Division Main Event for a lap before Dillon Ruml overtook him entering turn three to take the lead. Dillon Ruml didn’t look back from there and went on to the win. Willie Wondolowski held on to second, Hayley Perrault was third, Gino Scopellite finished fourth, Gage Geist was fifth, Michael Wells finished sixth, and Jacob Wondolowski was seventh.

Jacob Wondolowski held off the spirited challenge of Wells to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Dakota Shockley finished third, Summer Fehrman was fourth, and Matthew Reyes finished fifth.

Perrault was victorious in the Powder Puff Main Event ahead of Cassi Novratil, Julie Shockley, and Summer Fehrman.

Jozel Petraglovic and Mike Moreno jumped to the front of the Sidecar Main Event, but had National Champions Joe Jones and Jimmy Olsen right on the their tail. Jones and Olsen slipped by on the inside entering turn one the second time to take the lead. The duo was flawless the rest of the way and took home the win. Dan Jones and Dave German were second, Brian Motis and Brandi McElroy finished third, and Petraglovic and Moreno were fourth.

The Colorado River Classic was the fourth event promoted by Southern California speedway racer Nate Perkins and the third to be held inside the plush Mojave Crossing Event Center (MCEC). The MCEC is located in Fort Mojave, Arizona near Bullhead City, Arizona and Laughlin Nevada in the California-Arizona-Nevada tri-state area and across the Colorado River from the Avi Resort Casino.
