Bryan Bee - RIP Paul Belisle, I read today on Facebook post that he passed away in 2017.

Paul was a childhood motorcycle buddy, we raced speedway bicycles as children at El Modena High School Track and of course I won a lot, but once we had a speedway racer who was dating his sister come watch us race our bikes speedway, Sumner McNight and he was one of the riders who I idolized and I made sure I won when Sumner was watching. We also rode bicycles off Paul’s house on second story into his pool in Orange.

Paul got a speedway bike before me, as he proudly displayed his speedway bike in the back of his green Jeep truck, and I idolized Paul for racing speedway, so I saved my money from paper route and bought my first speedway bike from Danny Becker at age 16.

By age 17 I was a division 1 rider and Paul remained my friend, we raced at Santa Ana Bowl and he would always move over when I came up from behind him on my bee bike.

Paul was a true friend, good, guy, and inspired me to start racing speedway, maybe out of jealousy I got a speedway bike, because Paul got his race bike first.

Neighborhood buddy, Paul was a really fun guy to go motorcycle riding with, running around his mansion home, and I’ll tell the story of his CZ 125 to anyone who wants to know, but I wonder what happened to Paul and I always wanted to connect with him, I tried several times, but was sad to hear he passed away a couple years ago. A truly good guy, Paul Belisle, parents owned Belisle’s Restaurant over towards Disneyland but sold it as that area developed, and everyone moved away. I think Paul lived in Montana or something on a ranch? But he was a true childhood friend, I’ve always missed him and wished we could have remained friends as adults.

We were both little goof offs as kids, but he was a great guy, RIP Paul.
