NOVEMBER 10 EVENT IS POSTPONED

(October 24, 2007)
Unfortunately, I was informed today that the Perris track is not available for use on our previously scheduled date of November 10. This does not by any means mean that races are finished at Perris. In fact, the plan is to run around 10 events there in 2008, dates soon to be announced. I doubt at this stage that we will be able to get another suitable date this year due to the late stage of the cancellation and my own personal schedule, but if something changes in the next few days I will post it as soon as possible to give you all notice. I would say I am 90% sure that there won't be another Perris race in 2007.
Personally I loved the two races we did this fall and I can't wait to get things rolling again. The first 2008 race I was planning to do was March (with, of course, the Gumball Rally in February), but I may run a Winter race in January as well.
In the meantime, losing the November 10 race, assuming it does not get rescheduled (unlikely), throws our team series into some confusion as we will be one match short of a full series. To handle this, what is being proposed is this:
- After 2 matches for each team, the Aces are unbeaten (2-0), Eagles are 1-1, Vikings 0-2. Each team has raced each team one time, therefore we would move to a playoff format to decide the championship. The Vikings and Eagles, being the lowest two teams, will meet (as previously scheduled) on November 3 at Victorville in the Playoff Semi-Final. The winning team will join the Aces on November 17 at Victorville in the Playoff Final.
Once again, apologies for the cancellation of November 10 at Perris - I was really looking forward to it, but if the landlord cannot give us the track on the day, it is out of my hands. I wanted to give as much notice as I could as I know many of you will take the day off work to race.

2007 MAJOR SPEEDWAY LEAGUE COMES TO PERRIS RACEWAY

(Updated August 9, 2007)
I am pleased to announce that racing will be commencing at Perris Raceway this Fall. We are holding three dates two on Sundays, one on a spare Saturday. Perris is definitely a venue of big potential. It is the closest track in size to Europe, is immaculately prepared and immensely popular with the riders. Steve Evans & Jerry Lytton will be running the show. Steve will be putting together the riders and sponsors, Jerry will handle track preparation and logistics.
All Divisions will feature at each event. If all goes well, then an expanded schedule will be launched for 2008. This venture in no way effects the long term future of Victorville, in fact we are already planning 2008 for Victorville. Perris will be run on similar lines to Victorville (except it will be all speedway). We definitely do need help in raising purse funds, so anyone who would like to assist as a business or personal sponsor / donor should contact me. The first events get things going - the Victorville purse is now self sufficient from local sponsors but initially the speedway community chipped in while we got going and helped make us what we now are.
The Perris project is part of the launch of the (renamed) Major Speedway League. The plan is to have team racing at all three Perris races and the three Victorville fall races. Three teams will contest the league - one based out of Perris, one based out of Victorville and one 'floating' team. Each event will consist of a 15 heat British League style team event as the main feature, with all other classes in support. Riders that don't like Victorville can ride for the Perris team and do three Perris races and one Victorville. Riders who like Victorville can do vice versa. Riders who like both can race for the floating team and do two at each track. Riders for the team sitting out each event can race in their respective division or may even get called into the team match as a 'guest replacement' for a regular team member who is missing. The team racing is aimed at D1 / Upper D2 riders.
The whole project of the MSL is very exciting. Past team racing efforts have been very enjoyable for all involved, though the format was complicated for spectators by either running two matches on one night, or the three team format we used last year. Now, just like England, each night will feature a standard 15 heat event with a home team and visiting team. The MSL would welcome all California and even North American tracks to join in the future. League racing is the heart and soul of world speedway and whilst we don't expect it to replace the weekly established American format, it is a format that should be run in the US as part of our season.
This is the schedule for MSL. The 'floating' team is named LA for schedule purposes, but this may change later. The Perris team may be renamed Riverside.

Home venue in CAPITALS

Saturday November 17 3:00 p.m. - VICTORVILLE VIKINGS Vs Los Angeles Aces

No memberships are required to race. At both venues it is $30 to race, $20 to pit, $10 to spectate ($5 for kids).
We are seeking volunteers to flag, do sign ups, etc. for Perris. We are also looking for individuals who wish to be team managers, either former riders or enthusiasts. Riders can express their interest, along with what team they would like to race for if they would to race on that part of the program.

(Updated February 12, 2007 - Powder Puff Class Added)
Ladies of all ages… We are pleased to announce that we will have a Powder Puff Class at this year's Gumball Rally. We have decided that it's time for the girls to have their day, too, and welcome any girl who would love to give Speedway a try, but may not want to mix it up with the boys. Of course, we encourage you girls to join the other classes, too, but if you're not quite ready, this may be the perfect opportunity for you. Use the contact information below to sign up! (Updated February 2, 2007)

Gumball Rally Information and Schedule
Well, it's that time of year again! Sorry for the delay on posting this information, but there were some behind the scenes insurance problems that needed to be ironed out first. I am pleased to say that we've achieved that, thanks to the help of Jerry Litton and Kelly Inman. We have also managed to keep the entry costs down to a minimum for the kids and their parents who put so much into Junior Speedway. There will be no membership fees WHATSOEVER, which I understand has been a problem for some Junior Speedway competitors in the past. We have done this to encourage anyone who might want to come try Speedway for the first time. Remember, we have a Pee Wee Class and a Junior Speedway class that are open to those who might be interested in competing. Just pay your entry fee and go racing!

Many of the riders who are out there today had their start at The Gumball Rally. For Braydan Galvin (Pee Wee Champion) and Neil and Dale Facchini (Under 21 National Champion and 2nd in the Under 21 National Championship), the Gumball Rally was the first time they raced. So, tell a friend and let's see how many kids we can get who want to give Speedway a try!

Also, I am proud to say that we will have free camping. Anybody who attended last year's Gumball Rally will tell you what a great time it was and what a terrific show these kids put on! Hopefully, Shawn McConnell will have his projector out there showing Speedway videos on the side of his trailer.
The Dream Team will also make an appearance in the Dream Team vs. Select Team. This, too, is a great spectacle!
COME OUT AND SUPPORT OUR FUTURE NATIONAL AND WORLD CHAMPIONS!
