More good racing at Cal Expo, but again a rather disappointing turn-out
crowd-wise. There were some horrendous looking accidents. Harlan Bast
Junior lead the Handicap Main most of the way, but Tommy Hedden got past
him on the last corner. Harlan made a final dash for the corner, found
traction, the front came up and he went from the tapes to turn one along
the ground. Right on his tail, Mike Faria managed to miss him somehow,
and Bobby Hedden did a super quick laydown. Earlier, in only the second
race of the evening, Pat Linn fell down in about the same place, again
after completing the race distance, but landed awkwardly when he got
tangled with his bike. He sat the rest of the evening out, and I
understand, spent the night in hospital with a slight concussion.
