Golden Gate Speedway, Vallejo CA – August 22, 2009

Another great night of racing at Golden Gate Speedway in Vallejo, CA. This week the rider count was up a little, supplemented from the young riders from Southern California who made the trip north to compete in the National Under 21 championship at Auburn, the night before.

Skyler Grayson continues his recovery from the serious injury incurred a couple of year ago. Jason Ramirez and Russell Green both put on a great show, getting into the main event. Unfortunately for the top scorer for the Under 21 Gino Manzares, his evening was over prematurely, following his demolition of the crash wall in his first race. He walked away from it, but did not race again.

The Vaughn family were all victorious. Youth rider Ryan won the youth event, his father Billy won the D3 main, while grandfather Rusty won the Harley race. Not taking anything away from Rusty, I suspect Chris Wilkes could have pushed harder, since he was riding a genuine 1975 Harley XR 750.
