California Speedway
July 8, 2009 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

National Champion Billy "The Kid" Janniro travelled from Northern California and captured the main event at Industry Speedway for the second time this year.

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas started in gate two and looked to have the lead as the riders charged toward turn one. Janniro, who started in gate four, boldly trapped Venegas right as they reached turn one. Janniro left a little room on the inside as they exited turn two and Venegas pulled alongside the leader. Janniro still clamped down in front of Venegas entering turn three to secure the lead. Venegas chased Janniro for two more laps but drifted off the precious inside line which allowed Gary Hicks, and eventually the entire field to go by on the inside. Janniro was unthreatened on the final lap and claimed the victory. Hicks finished second, Jimmy Fishback was third, Ricky Wells finished fourth, with Venegas getting fifth.

Hicks kicked off the heats by beating Fishback for his first victory. Venegas defeated Mike Faria for his first win in the second heat. Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz beat Tyson Burmeister for his first victory in the next heat. Wells, on a return trip from England where he races for the Coventry Bees, trapped Janniro and held him off for the win to end round one.

Round two began with Schwartz being awarded the victory after Wells fell while chasing the leader and brought out the red flag. Fishback defeated John Marquez for his first win. Hicks beat Venegas for his second straight win in event 12. Janniro finished the second round by beating Faria.

The final round started with McConnell leading before suffering a mechanical problem that gave Hicks his third win. Faria held off Wells to win event 17. Fishback pushed his way past Schwartz to win the next race. Venegas kept the hard-charging Janniro at bay to win the final heat. Jason Ramirez beat Russell Green in a runoff for the final spot in the semis.

Janniro led Fishback in the first semi before the clashed in turn four and allowed Wells into second. Wells went past Janniro on the next lap and led him all the way to the finish and into the main. Hicks and Venegas finished one-two in the second semi and transferred to the main. Fishback won the Last Chance to book the final place in the main.

Northern California's Danny Poli led the Second Division Main Event for almost the entire distance but Joey Holt charged from the back and passed Poli for the lead and the win on the final lap. Poli had to settle for second, Drew Coats finished third, Jonni Jade was fourth, Bubba Vazzana finished fifth, and Bruce Marteney was sixth.

Butch Waymire led all four laps and was victorious in the Third Division Main Event. Norman Graham finished second, Ron Mongenel was third, DeWayne Stark finished fourth, and Rod Requejo was fifth.

Hayley Perrault claimed victory in the Youth Third Division Main Event with Jacob Wondolowski finishing second and Dillon Ruml getting credit for third.

Samuel Ramirez led from start to finish and won the Youth Second Division Main Event. Maxwell Ruml was second, Nicky Reimer finished third, and Bradley Wilson was fourth.

Rocco Scopellite defeated Kyle Hicks to win the Youth First Division Main Event.

Gerard Jackson and Dave German beat Sean Driggers and Missy Driggers to triumph in the Sidecar Main Event.

The next event at Industry Speedway is Surf and Skate Night and will also include a Bikini Contest.
