Buck Blair continued his dominance of the Southern California speedway circuit with another perfect night and his third Industry Speedway main event victory in two weeks.
Blair, coming off a double main event victory at the Season Opener, selected gate one for the main. Gary Hicks chose gate two, 2006 Industry Track Champion Charlie "The Edge" Venegas picked gate three, leaving Jimmy Fishback, in his first main event after missing all of 2006 with an injury, to start on the outside.
Fishback got the best start and tried to trap the field entering turn one. Blair's start was just good enough to hold prevent Fishback from getting to the inside groove. Fishback fought valiantly on the outside as the pair battled for the lead on the back straight. Blair was planted on the precious inside line and secured the lead at the end of the first lap. Hicks moved under Fishback and the two slugged it out for second. Hicks prevailed in that battle but couldn't catch Blair. Blair was first to the checkered flag with fourth straight Southern California main event victory, Hicks was second, Fishback finished third, and Venegas was credited with fourth.
The four-rider Last Man Out Race came down to Blair and Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell after Venegas was eliminated first and then "Fast" Eddie Castro was eliminated. Blair beat McConnell to turn one and led the first lap. McConnell fell entering turn one the second time which handed the victory to Blair.
The evening began on a sour note when George Fox went over backwards at the starting line and had to be taken off via stretcher. Fortunately, Fox didn't suffer any major injuries and was released from the hospital later in the evening.
Fifteen year old Ricky Wells won the first heat of the evening ahead of "Cowboy" Bobby Krips. Hicks scored his first win of the night ahead of McConnell. Fishback beat Venegas for the victory in the next race. Blair beat Castro to end round one.
Round two started with Castro passing Venegas on the third lap for the win. Hicks beat Wells for his second straight win. McConnell defeated Shaun Harmatiuk to win race 21. Blair finished the second round by defeating Fishback.
Blair started the final round with his third straight win. Hicks matched Blair's perfect score with a win over Fishback in the next race. Venegas beat well to win race 31. Castro held off McConnell to win the final heat race.
Castro was penalized in the first semi for touching the tapes. When the tapes finally went up Blair rocketed to victory and was followed by Fishback. Hicks won the second semi with Venegas finishing second to secure his spot in the main. Wells had the Consolation in his back pocket when he suffered an engine failure on the final lap which handed the win to McConnell.
Eloy Medellin used the inside starting position to his advantage and grabbed the lead in the Second Division Main Event. Allen Doss gave chase and closed in at the end of lap two. In the next corner Doss drove into Medellin which took both riders to the fence and brought out the red flag. Medellin was awarded the victory, Phillip Harmatiuk was second, John Marquez was third, and Doss was relegated to fourth.
Mike Lane was awarded the victory in the Third Division Main Event after the red flag came out with riders down at both ends of the race track. Ron Mongenel was second, Danny Baker was third, Rick Farron was fourth, Rick Fritch was fifth, and Cody Nelson was sixth.
Gino Manzares won a hard-fought victory in the Youth First Division Main Event. Joey Holt finished second and Russell Green was third.
Brad Pappalardo won both of his heats and scored an impressive victory in the Youth Second Division Main Event. Braydan Galvin finished second and Rocco Scopellite was third.
Eddie Tafoya fought through the traffic to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Ryan DeLong was second, Chandler LaRocque finished third, Elijah Harrison-Hicks was fourth, and Bryson Galvin finished fifth.
